The Voter Registration Committees

The Voter Registration Committees Program is a VDR led initiative in which Travis County Voter Registration aligns VDRs to register voters in specific areas of the county. These committees also act as vehicles for Get Out the Vote (GOTV) and voter education efforts.

Because Travis County has a history of maintaining an above 90% rate in voter registration, we have created this program to focus on that last 5-10%, by targeting demographics that have challenges when it comes to registering to vote and voting in general.

These Committees include the following:

  • Apartment Community Engagement (ACE) Committee

  • Jail Outreach Committee

  • Map the Outreach Committee

  • Senior and Assisted Living Outreach Committee

  • Student Outreach Committee

  • Unhoused Outreach Committee

The beauty of the Voter Registration Committees is that it is volunteer-driven. Travis County supplies the materials, connects VDRs with an event leaders (Leads) and organizations interested in voter registration. For the most part, the VDR Leads and our partners do the majority of event organizing.
